Early Tuesday morning, a Russian SU-27 collided with an American MQ-9 drone over the Black Sea.
U.S. officials say the Russian pilots were trying to intercept the drone when the pilots conducted an “unsafe and unprofessional intercept” according to the U.S Military.
This caused the fighter to clip the drone’s propeller, forcing it to crash into international waters.
This comes in light of heightened tensions between Russia and the U.S. who have each vowed to continue conducting air operations in international waters off the coast of Ukraine.
